Room Project Reflection
The purpose of the Room activity was to learn how to explain how different views of data can tell a different story, recognize that data is an incomplete record of reality, and describe the limits of measurement (what can and can’t be captured in data). I feel as that from this project I was able to achieve this because I applied the things that I learned in my geometry class when we were going over proofs. In mathematics, a proof is a deductive argument for a mathematical statement. In the argument, other previously established statements, such as theorems, can be used. In principle, a proof can be traced back to self-evident or assumed statements, known as axioms, along with accepted rules of inference. Because in this project I had to comprehend and analyze data, I could apply what I learned in that classroom which shows that I learned the benefits of different ways of analysis.
In my group we were given a picture and were asked to formulate a list that categorized every object found in the room depicted in it. I found it hard to remember which items I had or hadn’t taken down. To overcome this challenge I began marking off the objects that I had already put on the list.
If this project were presented to me a second time I would probably put my data into a google spreadsheet to be more efficient, and divide work more evenly in my group because I felt that the majority of the responsibilities were put on me. In my group I felt that we collaborated efficiently besides this, and when it came time to present we did so with diction.
