A. My view of technology is...
B. When I hear the word technology I imagine..
C. The best or worst thing about technology is…
D. What I learned last year about technology was…
E. What my goals for this course are…
- I interact with technology nearly every minute of my daily life. The bus I ride to school in and even the streets that I walk down are the result of thousands of years of technological advancement. Technology has both prolonged as well as bettered the lives of every human being to have existed, and for that I find it extremely beneficial. For humans as a race to progress, the technology that we develop to make said progression is key, so when I think of my view on technology I would say that I owe its advances my life.
B. When I hear the word technology I imagine..
- When I think about technology my mind conjures images of intel core processors and robotic arms, but I also can think of what technology meant to early humans; a stone hammer and a plow. The mental map of what humans regard as technology has changed a lot over the centuries, and still does today. The overall meaning of technology however is any technique, skill, tool, or otherwise that plays a hand in helping better humans in the efficiency of carrying out tasks. More recently, technology has advanced to a point where it has been engrained in every aspect of our lives be it social interaction or food, and because of said advancements has allowed us to go farther into understanding our world than previously imaginable.
C. The best or worst thing about technology is…
- The best part of technology is the fact that without it the humans we see today would still be hunter-gatherers in the fertile crescent, or, more likely, long extinct. With it we were able to spread across the globe and grow intellectually to a point of immense geopolitical and social higharchy and advancement. Of course, with this immense influx of new technologies over the past century, the computer and modern phone included, the face-to-face social interaction aspects of our daily lives has somewhat faded. While they obviously are still relevant, what with the media and internet available at such readiness it is possible to say that what relationships look like today are far different than what they were a year ago.
D. What I learned last year about technology was…
- Last year I unfortunately did not have the opportunity to learn about many big occurrences or advancements within the technology industry, nor any take any classes to better understand them. I did however two years ago have the wonderful opportunity to partake in a coding and robotics program in which I built and programed a functioning robot to carry out a task. I was successful in dong so, and can say that from that experience I learned valuable skills in the computer science industry.
E. What my goals for this course are…
- My goals for this year is basically just being able to put that I have a computer-related education and understand/can implement business related computer functions such as Word. I feel that if I have those skills, especially in the computer driven world that we live in, I could possibly stand out on any job or school applications that I will have in my future. In its essence, from this course I hope to understand computers; a technology that until now has been a mystery to me.
